What is corundum?
Corundum is an extremely hard mineral composed of aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃). It is the second hardest natural material after diamond. Its hardness on the Mohs scale is 9. Corundum occurs naturally in metamorphic and igneous rock formations and comes in a variety of colours.
The gem varieties of corundum are known by specific names depending on their colour :

• Ruby : Red corundum, coloured with traces of chromium.
• Sapphire : Corundum of all other colours, usually blue, coloured with traces of iron, titanium, chromium, vanadium or magnesium.

Corundum is used in a variety of industrial applications because of its hardness, particularly as an abrasive and to make cutting and polishing tools. When it comes to jewellery, rubies and sapphires are highly prized precious stones.

A crystalline form of aluminium oxide, corundum enables precise, effective microdermabrasion. Corundum is ground and sieved in our production plant to obtain exfoliating particles ideal for designing your exfoliating cosmetic products. Our corundum exfoliants are 100% natural according to the ISO 16128 standard.
