PLANT-BASED AMORPHOUS SILICA
Amorphous silica (SiO₂) is a form of silica that lacks a crystalline structure, unlike crystalline silica (such as quartz). It is often derived from biological or thermal processes and is considered safer for cosmetic applications since it does not pose the respiratory risks associated with crystalline silica particles.

FORMULATION GUIDE
Our R&D teams conducted an in-depth study to characterize the performance of Rice Husk Exfoliator in formulation and to define the ideal pH stabilization conditions to ensure the stability of your products.

Protocol:
• The study was carried out in water with different particle sizes of Rice Husk Exfoliator.
• The pH was adjusted using a citric acid solution, with the aim of stabilizing around pH 5.0, considered optimal for cosmetic formulations.

Results:
• The pH drops rapidly at low concentrations of citric acid, then gradually stabilizes at pH 5.0.
• Particle size plays a decisive role: the finer the particles, the greater the surface area, and the greater the amount of citric acid required.

• Tests conducted with 5%, 10%, and 15% concentrations of Rice Husk Exfoliator confirm a proportional relationship between the exfoliant concentration and the amount of citric acid to be added.
These data make it easy to extrapolate the adjustments to other concentrations.

FORMULATION TIP:
To ensure long-term pH stability, we recommend combining the citric acid adjustment with a citric acid–sodium citrate buffer system.
